I grew up being afraid of dogs. When I would see a dog, I would
do the one thing you should never do! RUN! It wasn’t until I was
eight years old that I learned that dogs aren’t so bad and scary
after all. It wasn’t until I was nineteen though, that I got my
first dog. He was a red and white border collie. He was the dog
that introduced me to the fascinating world of dog sports, and I
haven’t looked back since. It was thanks to my daughter, Autumn
though, that I fell in love with conformation. She wanted to get
involved with junior handling so we researched breeds and
decided that Papillons would be the perfect breed for her. After
researching and speaking with many breeders, we came across
Belle’s breeder, Olga Gagne. After spending some time with her
and meeting some of her dogs, we realized she would be able to
give Autumn the puppy she wanted. This is how our first
Papillon, Belle, aka Bellie Beans, came into our life. Belle of
course needed handling lessons (and so did Autumn and I), so we
attended classes regularly and that was when I realized
conformation could be a lot of fun and have been hooked ever
since.
My goal is to continue to learn and grow as a breeder, which
means to attend seminars when possible and to ask lots of
questions. I don’t have the answers to everything, but if you
ask me a question that I don’t know the answer to, I will do my
best to find it for you. I want to breed dogs that are healthy,
have excellent temperaments and make loving family pets and that
you will have fun with. That could mean conformation, sports
such as rally and agility, or just someone to be by your side
during a walk or cuddle on the couch with.
Aubelle is named after two of the greatest loves of my life,
which is my daughter Autumn, and Belle who I refer to as the
doggy love of my life.
Our kennel name is registered with the CKC where I’m also a
member in good standing. I’m also a member of the Papillon Club
of Canada and a member of the Chinese Crested Club of Canada
where I also served as the Ontario director for 2 years until 2015.
